Robin Walker, a junior minister at the Department for Exiting the European Union, has promised to maintain the UK’s “record” on environmental science and conservation after Britain leaves the EU.
Walker visited the Zoological Society of London on 30 November to discuss a new regulatory framework for environment and science with learned societies and science campaign groups, including the Campaign for Science and Engineering and the British Ecological Society.
Although the details of such a framework have not been released, Walker said in a statement that it would be “tailored to the needs of the country” and that the government would not turn its back on environmental science and conservation once the UK leaves the EU.
