Officials working at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills’ office in Sheffield are collecting signatures on a petition against the closure of the site.

In an online petition submitted to parliament, the signatories rejected BIS‘s decision to shut down the office and concentrate policy roles in London, a move that was announced last week.

“Government is too London-based and the capital’s economy is outperforming the north,” the petition says. “It is completely the wrong strategy to rebalance our nation’s economy.”
