Treasury reveals date for autumn budget

The 2017 autumn budget will be delivered on 22 November, the Treasury has announced.

The budget will set out the government’s plans for the economy based, as usual, on the latest forecast from the Office for Budget Responsibility, the Treasury said in a statement on 12 September.

From 2018, there will be only one annual budget, delivered in the autumn. The spring budget will become a spring statement, in which the chancellor will respond to the forecast from the OBR, but this will not be treated as a major fiscal event by the government.
