A new chair and interim chief executive have been appointed at Genomics England, following its recent success in sequencing 100,000 whole genomes.

Jonathan Symonds will take the reins as the next chair of the organisation, when John Chisholm steps down from this position on 29 January. Symonds is deputy group chairman at HSBC Holdings and has served on the Genomics England board as senior non-executive director.

Genomics England’s chief executive John Mattick is also stepping down. The organisation’s chief scientist Mark Caulfield will act as interim chief executive while Genomics England looks for Mattick’s replacement.
