UK government triples funding for initiative to protect biodiversity
The UK government has tripled the funding allocated to protect international biodiversity though its Darwin Initiative. Since 1992 the scheme has funded research and conservation work to the tune of £161m via 1,155 projects in 159 countries.
On 12 October the government said it would treble funding for the scheme to £90 million over the next three years, as part of previously announced plans to put £220m into halting biodiversity loss.
