UK health-innovation minister also announces “imminent” publication of strategy on health data
The UK health department’s technology, innovation and life sciences minister, Lord Syed Kamall, has admitted he “genuinely does not know” the reasons for the government’s recent GP data-scheme blunder.
The House of Commons Science and Technology Committee heard yesterday that the government’s General Practice Data for Planning and Research initiative was “subject to a rapid erosion of public trust” last year. More than 1 million people opted out of the scheme in one month, according to an analysis from The Observer newspaper.
