Sector looks to ‘get REF out of the way’ after year of delays and challenges
Back in February, when the coronavirus pandemic had yet to gain a foothold in the UK and it was still possible to hold a face-to-face conference in central London, the inaugural Research Professional Live event took place. The big topic of the day was then one of academia’s biggest headaches: the upcoming Research Excellence Framework.
The UK-wide assessment exercise is used to distribute more than £2 billion in quality-related research funding. And the deadline for submissions was approaching.
