Postponed 31 March deadline to stay but ‘wider context continues to remain uncertain’
The revised Research Excellence Framework deadline will not be changed from 31 March 2021 following a review, although “further steps are needed” to combat potential problems in submissions.
On 20 November the four funding bodies responsible for the REF—the Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland, the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, Research England and the Scottish Funding Council—confirmed that the 31 March 2021 deadline would stay, after a review by the REF steering group concluded that “there should be no further changes to the submission deadline”.
