Delayed REF deadline kept under review due to lockdown

No change for REF dates but funders admit lockdown could affect submissions

The team behind the Research Excellence Framework has said it is “keeping a number of areas under close review” ahead of the March submission deadline, although the exercise has not yet been delayed further in the light of the new national lockdown in England.

In a statement on 5 January, the four funding bodies behind the REF 2021 said they were “continuing to engage in contingency planning” after prime minister Boris Johnson announced a third national lockdown on 4 January.
