Researchers develop tissue to replace animals in tests

Researchers from the University of Reading have developed a synthetic material, which, they say, could replace the use of animal tissue in the development of pharmaceuticals.

The tissue is a type of ‘hydrogel’ that imitates the properties of mouth and stomach tissue in animals.
