Up to six synthetic biology research centres are to be set up with around £20 million in capital funding from two research councils.
The call for these multidisciplinary centres is currently being developed by Research Council UK’s Synthetic Biology Working Group.
The centres are to be funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council in two phases, with three in line for support this financial year and three the following year.
