Review panel invites EPSRC’s most vocal critics to Swindon evidence sessions

Researchers who staged a mock funeral in Westminster last May to denounce the policies of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council are to meet the independent panel reviewing the council’s communications.

Between 14 and 17 May, the panel will conduct around 16 meetings in Swindon with people who have submitted evidence to its review of the council’s strategic advisory routes.

Some of the EPSRC’s most vocal critics have accepted invitations to the meetings. They include Tony Barrett, head of synthesis at Imperial College London, founder of the Science for the Future pressure group and organiser of the protest last May; David O’Hagan, head of organic chemistry at the University of St Andrews; and Philip Moriarty, a professor of physics at the University of Nottingham.
