The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has named Jackie Hunter as the next chief executive of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
Hunter is chief executive of OI Pharma Partners, a company that helps apply open innovation tools to drug development. She has worked in the pharmaceutical industry at GlaxoSmithKline, its predecessor companies, and Astra, which has since become AstraZeneca.
She sat on the BBSRC council from 2004-10, received a CBE in 2010 for her services to industry, and has a degree and doctorate from the University of London.
