Public wants more transparency from BBSRC

An engagement project instigated by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council has found that the public wants researchers to keep sight of the “bigger picture” in bioenergy.

The BBSRC’s Bioenergy Dialogue project took place from September 2012 to December 2013. Participants said they wanted researchers to consider the benefit, fairness, impact and sustainability of bioenergy, and to not “lose sight of the wider goal of reducing carbon emissions”.

Participants also suggested that researchers should be transparent in their bioenergy work, where possible informing the public about their research and providing high-quality evidence for policy-making.
