NERC and EPSRC add string to Archer’s bow

The Research Councils UK supercomputer Archer has had its computing power increased by approximately 60 per cent in a £10-million upgrade.

The machine has been in operation for a year, and has maintained its configuration in the upgrade to minimise disruption for users. Archer is expected to be back in to service at the end of November.

The upgrade was funded by the Natural Environment Research Council and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
