STFC and industry develop supercomputer

The Hartree Centre, funded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council, is collaborating with Maxeler Technologies to create an energy-efficient supercomputer.

The project, funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, is aimed at creating a supercomputer with greater performance and efficiency than its predecessors. 

The MPC-X supercomputer will be available this summer. Its applications will range from medical imaging and healthcare data analytics to manufacturing, microscopy, simulations and media, according to a statement from the STFC.
