BBSRC awards strategic grants

Three long-term research projects have received a total of £13.9 million from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council under its Strategic Longer and Larger grants scheme.

The winning proposals are aimed at producing cheaper and more effective vaccines for poultry, developing plants that can produce their own fertiliser, and developing new breeding lines of wheat.

The teams are based at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Imperial College London and the University of Bristol, respectively.
