Third of Defra workforce wants to leave within a year

A survey of staff at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has revealed that 21 per cent of staff want to leave within the next 12 months, with an additional 16 per cent wishing to leave as soon as possible.

The survey, published on 7 December, includes responses from 1,666 staff, a response rate of 84 per cent.

Just over half of  respondents said that they did not feel that their pay adequately reflected their performance. Career development was also an issue, with 42 per cent of those surveyed saying that they did not feel there were opportunities for them to develop their skills at the department.
