MRC opens up fellowship criteria

The Medical Research Council has removed from its fellowship eligibility criteria any limits about when researchers can apply after completing their PhD.

The announcement came as the MRC launched an interactive guide to medical research careers, which the research council says is the first such tool for this field.

Until now, the period within which someone could apply for an MRC fellowship has been different for different fellowships. The restrictions will be removed on 18 March, coincident with the launch of the career framework.
