Understanding the roles of nutrition, physical activity and other factors in maintaining health are some of the bioscience aims in the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council's recently revised strategic plan.
Bioscience for health is one of three strategic research priorities originally laid out in 2013, along with agriculture and food security, and industrial biotechnology and bioenergy.
Among the BBSRC’s aims for bioscience for health are that the biological mechanisms underlying normal physiology and homeostatic control be revealed; the roles of nutrition, physical activity and other factors in maintaining health be understood; emerging technologies be exploited; and basic research be effectively translated.
