The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council has announced nine finalists for its 2015 Innovator of the Year competition, two of whom are from the University of Dundee.
Dundee is the only institution to be represented in two categories: Andrew Hopkins is in the running for the Commercial Innovator award, in recognition of his work involving algorithmic drug delivery from big data; and Geoff Barton is up for a Social Innovator award for his role in developing Jalview, an online tool for macromolecular sequence alignment, analysis and visualisation.
The competition recognises BBSRC-funded researchers who have used their research for social and economic benefits.
