RCUK announces boost for 2016 PhD stipends

Research Councils UK has set the minimum doctoral student stipend for 2016-17 at £14,296, a £239 increase on the previous academic year.

RCUK’s doctoral stipend levels have increased by larger increments every year since 2012-13, when they were set at £13,590. The 2013-14 increase was £136, followed by a £137 increase in 2014-15, and an increase of £194 in 2015-16, to reach £14,057.

The RCUK indicative fee level for 2016-17 also increased to £4,121, up £69 from that set in 2015-16.
