STFC issues user warning after cyberattack

The Science and Technologies Facilities Council has advised around 12,000 people to change their shopping and banking passwords after an event registration website was hacked.

An STFC events registration website was targeted earlier this month by an unknown perpetrator, the STFC said in a statement on 22 November. The website held the names, email addresses, home addresses and telephone numbers of around 12,000 users.

Although passwords were encrypted and no financial information was held by the site, users have been contacted by the STFC and advised to change their passwords for shopping and banking services.
