The Natural Environment Research Council is calling for proposals for the third round of its highlight topics, a route to support strategic research.
In an announcement published this week on its website, NERC outlined the five highlight topics in this call, which will offer £9 million in funding.
These include: quantifying ‘blue carbon’ ecosystem services and assessing human impacts on coastal carbon assimilation, transfer and storage; insights into space weather impact on UK national grounded infrastructure; genesis of magmatic-hosted ore deposits; modelling and forecasting the Earth’s radiation belts; and innovative applications of big data techniques to natural hazard prediction and risk mitigation.
