Research councils invest £3.2m in sustainable farming

Three UK research councils have reached agreement with 12 industry partners on the main priorities of a £3.2-million programme of interdisciplinary research into developing sustainable agriculture.

A total of 10 projects have been granted funding in the second round of the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Innovation Club, which is backed by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, the Natural Environment Research Council and the Economic and Social Research Council, the ESRC announced on 25 August.

The Saric initiative supports interdisciplinary projects looking for solutions to challenges affecting the efficiency, productivity and sustainability of the UK’s crop and livestock farming.
