The Natural Environment Research Council has launched a £6-million call for investigations into how chemical pollutants affect whole ecosystems rather than individual species.
In an announcement on 26 July, NERC said it expects the results to shape how chemical risk assessments are carried out in the future, with an increased focus on ecological relevance and sustainable ecosystems.
Researchers are being asked to examine the problems that regulators or industry face now and in the future in relation to different environmental hazards. Funded projects will aim to develop novel approaches to managing chemical threats.
