The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has begun the search for an executive chairman to run the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
As well as leading on the physical sciences, the EPSRC’s executive chairman will be responsible for delivering one or more cross-cutting areas on behalf of all the research councils, the council announced on 2 January. Applications for the post are open until 2 February.
Philip Nelson, the EPSRC’s present chief executive, said in October that he would serve as the council’s interim executive chairman for the initial six months following the creation of the umbrella body UK Research and Innovation.
