UK Research and Innovation considers linking funding to action on dealing with harassment
Plans by the UK’s largest public R&D funder to step up action on tackling bullying and harassment in the research sector have received a cautious response, with a warning that more still needs to be done.
UK Research and Innovation has said that from next year it will consider restricting access to its money if organisations fail to meet new standards. This came as the funder published a long-awaited evidence review on bullying and harassment, conducted by the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at King’s College London, which warned that characteristics in higher education such as strong hierarchies can act as enablers.
