UKRI chooses manufacturer for UK’s next supercomputer

Cray awarded contract to develop £79m ARCHER 2

Computer firm Cray has been chosen to provide the UK’s next national supercomputer, which UK Research and Innovation says will be a “significant step forward” for the country’s computer science.

The funder announced the choice on 23 October for the £79 million piece of hardware, known as ARCHER 2.
