AHRC launches scheme for humanitarian protection

Researchers are invited to bid for up to £480,000 to help improve the protection of vulnerable people in conflict zones.

The new Collaborative Humanitarian Protection Research Programme, managed by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), will fund research into the causes of violations of humanitarian protection. It will also assess the effectiveness of different interventions to improve protection of vulnerable people in conflict zones.

Researchers applying for funding must address at least one of six themes in their proposals: impact of violations of international humanitarian law, impact of protection programming, impact of restraint, impact of local protection mechanisms, impact of recognition on protection, and impact of targeting.
