Two research centres on volcanic and polar observation have each been given an additional £1 million to further their study of changes in the natural environment.
The Natural Environment Research Council awarded the funding to the Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling and Centre for Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tectonics, as part of its national capability funding.
“These two awards support excellent long-term scientific research that contributes valuable understanding to support environmental resilience planning and decision-making at the highest levels,” said NERC’s director of research and innovation Phil Heads on 29 May.
