‘Super-resolution microscope’ wins BBSRC innovation award

The creators of the Nanoimager, a desktop single-molecule microscope, have won the innovator of the year award from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.

Achillefs Kapanidis, a professor of biological physics at the University of Oxford, and his former PhD student Bo Jing received the award at a ceremony on 15 May.

Nanoimager is sold by Oxford Nanoimaging, a spinout company lead by Bo Jing. The microscope is touted as the “world’s first desktop super-resolution microscope” and is meant to enable live cell imaging over long time periods.
