Two research councils have announced a joint £12.4-million programme aimed at improving marine management and policy.

The programme, Sustainable Management of UK Marine Resources, is expected to open a call for transdisciplinary research projects in April or May 2020.

It will be funded by the Natural Environment Research Council and the Economic and Social Research Council, and delivered in partnership with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Marine Scotland, according to the ESRC’s announcement on 6 September.
