Skidmore announces increase in knowledge exchange funding

Universities minister Chris Skidmore has announced a rise in knowledge exchange funding, as he seeks to strengthen links between institutions and their industry partners.

Speaking at the Research England Engagement Forum on 26 September, the minister said that Higher Education Innovation Funding would rise from £225 million this year to £250m by 2020-2021. HEIF provides funding for knowledge exchange activities in universities.

Skidmore said the funding would “further strengthen the links between universities and their partners in industry and elsewhere, ensuring that our economy and society are able to make the most of the amazing work happening in our universities”.
