Omission comes amid concerns that the agency will be placed outside UKRI
A corporate plan setting out UK Research and Innovation’s vision for 2020-21 does not mention the planned funding agency modelled on the United States Advanced Research Projects Agency, even though the government has said it will launch the agency in 2021.
The government has promised to create the £800 million agency for “high-risk, high-reward research”, but it has not said whether it will sit within UKRI.
