UKRI sets ‘ambitious’ plans to reach net-zero by 2040

Strategy sets out funder’s short and long-term priorities to reduce carbon emissions

UK Research and Innovation has launched an environmental sustainability strategy to help the organisation to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

The strategy, published on 21 May, sets out the national research funder’s short-term and longer-term priorities to reach the target. These include the establishment of a UKRI Carbon Fund for carbon improvement by 2021, as well as the adoption of Biodiversity Action Plans by 2022.
