Minority ethnic academics less likely to win UKRI funding

Data reveals gap of 10 percentage points in minority ethnic and white PI success rates

Data from UK Research and Innovation has revealed that white academics are more likely than their minority ethnic colleagues to get funding.

According to the data published by the public funder, principal investigators from an ethnic minority had a success rate of 17 per cent between 2018 and 2019, compared with 27 per cent for white applicants.
