Departing chair John Kingman’s advice to UK Research and Innovation ahead of crucial spending review

The outgoing chair of the national funding agency, UK Research and Innovation, has outlined lessons for UKRI as he described the upcoming spending review as a “make or break moment” for R&D.

Speaking at a national academies’ event on 14 July, John Kingman, said it was “too early” to give a firm verdict on the success of UKRI which he helped establish in 2018, both hailing its achievements and warning of some “pretty serious” challenges ahead.
