Sex and gender have been “afterthought” in UK medical research for too long, says expert
Leading UK medical research funders have today backed the introduction of sex and gender policies for biomedical, health and care research.
In total, 29 organisations have joined together to publish a statement of intent on the introduction of sex and gender policies. Signatories to the statement include the National Institute for Health and Care Research, the Medical Research Council and the Association of Medical Research Charities, which represents 151 charities. It is also supported by academic publishers the BMJ and Elsevier.
