Medical Research Council hopes universities can take on research posts under threat amid funding shift

Hundreds of jobs could be at risk due to a major change in how the Medical Research Council provides long-term support for research groups, Research Professional News has been told. 

Following a review in 2020, the MRC, the main government funder for UK biomedical research, changed its model for funding research units that focus on key areas—such as clinical trials, neuroscience and human genetics.
