Men more likely to feature in 2021 university assessment exercise than women

Black researchers, disabled academics and female staff were all less likely to be submitted to the Research Excellence Framework 2021 than their peers, an analysis has found.

The exercise grades academic work to assess the quality of university research, with all staff with “significant responsibility for research” generally having to submit at least one piece of research.
