Review commissioned by funder suggests use of automation to pick reviewers could become “new normal”

A report on how research funders could adapt their grant-awarding processes has suggested that the use of automation and randomisation could become a “new normal”.

The national funder, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), commissioned the report by consultancy Technopolis as part of the government’s effort to push forward changes in research culture.
