Sainsbury elected Cambridge chancellor

Former science minister Labour peer David Sainsbury has won the race to become chancellor of the University of Cambridge.

Sainsbury won the vote of the university’s Senate, which includes university staff and most alumni. He takes on the role immediately, as the successor to Prince Phillip, who retired as chancellor in June.
