King’s banks ‘gold standard’ embryonic stem cells

King’s College London has announced it has submitted its first embryonic stem cell lines with the potential for human therapy to the UK Stem Cell Bank.

The lines, which are free from animal-derived products, could become the “gold standard” lines for developing stem cell-based therapies, said the university in a statement. They were “clinical grade” rather than “research grade” lines.
