Chapter 2: Informing students and ensuring teaching excellence

At a press briefing on the higher education white paper, universities minister David Willetts said he wants university teaching to be subject to the same incentives for excellence as research. He said that universities would be encouraged to compete to teach students in the same way that they compete for research funding.

Universities will be required to provide significantly more information to prospective students under the new regime, including on how they can expect to divide their time on different courses.
