Green light for £9,000 tuition fees at Scottish universities

Scottish universities will be able to charge up to £9,000 in tuition fees for students from the rest of the UK, Scotland’s education secretary, Michael Russell, announced to the Scottish parliament on 29 June.

Scottish students will be exempt from any fee rises. The plans also mean that university places for Scottish students will be protected from “fee refugees” from England.
