Lancaster appoints vice-chancellor

The University of Lancaster has announced the appointment of a physicist, Mark Smith, as its vice-chancellor starting January 2012.

Smith, who is the deputy vice-chancellor at the University of Warwick, will replace Paul Wellings, who is taking up the position of vice-chancellor at Wollongong University in Australia.
