1994 Group report warns of research threats

Britain currently leads the world in research excellence but will risk losing that position if it fails to provide adequate and properly directed financial support, according to an analysis by the 1994 Group of universities.

“Mapping research excellence: Exploring the links between research excellence and research funding policy” was compiled by Paul Wellings, vice-chancellor of the University of Lancaster and chairman of the 1994 Group, and Rachel Winzer, the group’s director of research.
