Britain’s universities are a major driver of growth in the UK and contribute more than £3 billion a year to the economy, according to an analysis by the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
HEFCE’s 10th annual “Higher Education—Business and community interaction” survey suggests that the total value of UK knowledge exchange increased by 4 per cent from £2.97 billion in 2008-09 to £3.09bn in 2009-10.
