Older students missing as applications recover

Universities appear to be experiencing a late surge in the numbers of applicants for places on degree courses in 2012, according to Universities UK.

If the trend is confirmed, the numbers of late applicants would show that the effects of increased tuition fees may not be as damaging as once feared.
